Kut’ül Amare: Takvimler 1915 yılını gösterdiğinde, Osmanlı İmparatorluğu Irak’ta zor bir durumla karşı karşıya kalmıştı. İngilizler, Irak Cephesi’nde hızla ilerleyerek büyük bir askeri güçle Kut’ül Amare kasabasına kadar ulaşmışlardı. Osmanlı ordusu, bu ilerlemeyi durdurmak için büyük bir çaba sarf ediyor ve stratejik bir karar almak zorundaydı.

Kut’ül Amare, oldukça kritik bir noktaydı; eğer İngilizlerin bölgedeki harekatlarına devam etmesine izin verilirse, Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’nun doğudaki savunması ciddi şekilde zayıflayacaktı.

Osmanlı’nın en iyi stratejiyi seçebilmesi için acil bir karar verilmesi gerekiyordu. Hem askeri gücü hem de bölgesel koşulları göz önünde bulundurarak en doğru stratejiyi belirlemeleri şarttı. Bu, sadece bir askeri karar değil, aynı zamanda Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’nun geleceğini şekillendirecek bir dönüm noktası olacaktı.

Drug Trafficking and Crime Control in South America: The impact of drug trafficking in the region, criminal gangs, regional cooperation, and the citizens safety

This topic deals with the drug trade, which is a serious problem in many countries of South America, and the fight against the crimes that this trade leads to. The region is one of the major producers of drugs worldwide, with Colombia, Peru, and Bolivia in particular having a large share in the production of cocaine. Drug cartels, combined with factors such as poverty and organized crime, further complicate this problem. Moreover, this trade has become an issue that affects not only countries in South America but the whole world.

In this committee, the delegates are expected to find effective solutions in order to make South American countries more livable and safer.

United Nations General Assembly Third Committee

Humanitarian Missions during Times of Crisis: As a committee of the United Nations General Assembly, SOCHUM plays a crucial role in addressing global issues, including humanitarian crises, migration, and the protection of fundamental freedoms.

Our agenda item, “Humanitarian Aid: Humanitarian Missions during Crisis,” addresses the mechanisms, issues, and success of humanitarian aid in times of crisis. In conflict zones or when natural disasters occur, humanitarian missions aim to deliver quick relief while respecting neutrality, impartiality, and independence.

However, these missions are often hindered by issues such as access restrictions, political intrusion, lack of funding, and security risks. Here in this essay, we will be talking about the role of NGOs, governments, and international organizations in implementing effective and ethical humanitarian interventions.

We expect delegates to submit solution-oriented and research-based perceptions of improving humanitarian action. Legal environments, coordination among stakeholders, equilibrating sovereignty and humanitarian imperative, and innovative solutions to delivering aid should be considered by delegates. A successful debate will look at short-term crisis management as well as long-term alternatives for improving international humanitarian action.

Historical United Nations Security Council (H-UNSC) Committee:

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has led the way in global peace and security, navigating some of history’s most defining conflicts. In the Historical UNSC Committee (H-UNSC), we turn back the clock to one of the first great tests of the post-World War II international order: The Korean War (1950-1953). This was not simply a war of battles; this was a climactic moment of the Cold War, one which would set the stage for decades of geopolitics competition.

During this committee, the delegates will be submerged in a tense game of diplomatic intrigue as the UNSC grapples with the onset of war on the Korean Peninsula. The Soviet and Chinese-backed invasion of South Korea by the North pushed the UN to act quickly, led by the United States. But behind the official resolutions and war plans, deeper questions need to be asked:

Was the UNSC actually acting in the name of world peace, or was it a superpower battle arena? Was diplomacy a means of precluding an all-out war, or was war the only option?

Delegates will represent key UNSC member states of the era and have the task of guiding international response to the war. They must navigate the issues of alliances, ideological disputes, and the limits on the power of the UN imposed by the two superpowers’ domination of the Cold War era. If the UN is to go ahead with ongoing military intervention, negotiate a peace agreement, or consider a completely different strategy?

This is your opportunity to step into the shoes of Cold War diplomats, balancing national interests with world stability. Will you be a voice for peace, a champion for decisive action, or leverage the war for political means? The fate of history—and the future of international diplomacy—is in your hands.
